BOTH PAGES: Landscape Lighting Pro (LLP) designed and installed the lighting for this modern
mountain residence nestled along the Wasatch Mountain bench outside Salt Lake City. Collaborating
closely with Pendleton Landscape, LLP helped reinforce a vision of a home seamlessly integrated
into its natural surroundings.
Specimen Japanese maple trees were selected a full year ahead of the landscape's build phase.
Pendelton Design Management traveled to Oregon with the homeowners to personally hand-
select the trees that would ultimately be transported back to Utah. This maple now anchors the
landscape, positioned at its very heart and adorned with ornamental pendant lights suspended
from its branches to highlight the tree as a living centerpiece. Despite Utah's high desert climate,
these cultivars thrive thanks to an intricate misting system that creates a carefully controlled
microclimate throughout the property.
The 3,500-square-foot front-yard putting green — complete with seven holes and two sand traps
— is illuminated using precision downlighting. Directional fixtures with glare shields, discreetly
mounted in trees and along the home's architecture, deliver even, controlled coverage with LLP's
custom downlights. Remote smart controls ensure reliable performance across the expansive
property, while LLP path lights guide the way along the flagstone walkway leading to the green.
