33 TPC Sawgrass, located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, is recognized as one of the world's most iconic and revered golf destinations in the world. Designed by legendary architect Pete Dye, the Stadium Course is the permanent home to THE PLAYERS Championship. Opened in 1980, the course is a masterpiece of challenge and beauty, blending natural wetlands, lagoons, strategically placed bunkers, and penalty areas that demand precision and creativity from players. TPC Sawgrass is renowned for its innovative design, featuring narrow fairways, deep pot bunkers, and undulating greens that test the best professional golfers in the world The course is most famous for its par-3 17th hole, known as the "Island Green." Measuring just 137 yards, the hole is deceptively short but strikes fear into the hearts of golfers. The small green is entirely surrounded by water, with only a narrow walkway connecting it to the tee. Wind conditions can change dramatically, making club selection a critical decision. Anecdotes of the 17th hole abound. During the 1999 PLAYERS Championship, Fred Couples famously landed his ball on the green only to watch it roll back into the water, then promptly holed his next shot for an unforgettable par.
