Lyubov was well taken care of in her last
months. The house was filled with iends
and family. Lyubov's sister Zhenya came to
stay with them, as did her sister Klara. Lev
was there as much as he could be, and one day
he came with a iend. Lyubov noticed her
immediately. "Who is that beautiful girl with
the big, beautiful eyes?" Lyubov asked Iosif.
Iosif said he did not know, but would find
out. Aer talking to Lev, Iosif told Lyubov
that her name was Margarita Kirzhner, though
everyone called her Margo. Lyubov was very
pleased
with Margo.
Lyubov knew she was dying and refused to be
pitied. She approached her death with the
same relentless cheer and goodwill that she

applied to every other part of her life. She
did this despite a lot of pain and nightmares.
Lyubov asked Zhenya to stay with her until the
end, and Zhenya agreed. She wanted her sister
to do some things that no one else could do.
Lyubov asked Zhenya to put her wig on and to
make sure her teeth were clean when she was
buried. All this Zhenya did for her sister and
on December 20, 1982, just over a year since
her arrival in the United States, Lyubov died.
To this day, everyone remembers Lyubov
as the sweetest, most agreeable woman on
