yubov's father, Leib Braverman, was born
in 1877 in the town of Kamenets-Podolsk,
Ukraine. Little is known about either his early life
or that of his wife, Malka Berman Braverman, who
was born in 1891. During that time, the Soviet
Union recognized and rewarded mothers who had a
large number of pregnancies. As the mother of nine
children—Mikhail, Khaya (Klara), Zinaida (Zina),
Rosa, Aleksander, Zhenya, Lyubov, Yura, and Fira—
Malka received the Order of Maternal Glory.
