working as a sound and editing technician at the radio station Kol Israel. Ironically Sylvia, a beautician, got married on a visit to Paris and lived in the French capital until her death. Aer having visited their children in Israel in 1969, Zhenya and Abel decided to settle in Israel in the early 1980s, buying an apartment in Ramat-Gan. In May of 1986, Zhenya suffered a terrible loss when her husband and faithful lifelong companion passed away. He returned om Paris aer the funeral of his brother Moritz who, in a bout of a psychiatric disorder, shot and killed his wife and one adult daughter and then committed suicide. Crushed by the terrible tragedy, Abel suffered a heart attack and died. Zhenya has toured all over the world, including Europe, America, and Australia. She considers the highlights of her career to be her 1990 performance on the premier stage of the Soviet Union, the Palace of Congresses inside Moscow's Kremlin, and her triumphant tour of Ukraine in the mid-'90s. She could settle down anywhere the world, but she is too attached to Israel. She even finds its climate agreeable; Zhenya loves the sea, the sun, and the heat. She has devoted the past two decades of her life primarily to two tasks: mobilizing international Q: What is one lesson your mother taught you? A: It is wise to listen to your mother.
