Sagebrush Golf Club is a hidden gem set along and above the southern shoreline of Nicola
Lake on Canada's largest working ranch. Sagebrush offers an exceptional golfing experience
that many still have yet to discover, making those who have made the pilgrimage to play here
feel even more special. It began in 2009 as an invitation-only course, but later opened to the
public and has since gained an outstanding reputation domestically and internationally. It is
now recognized as one of Canada's leading public courses, recently making the list of the top
10 public courses in Canada and being named British Columbia's best public golf course.
The awards do not come as a surprise to those familiar with this unique links design. The
course was created through a collaboration between PGA Tour veteran Dick Zokol, Rod
Whitman, and USGA agronomy expert Armen Suny. This team drew inspiration from the finest
links golf courses around the globe. The outcome is a course that feels and plays like a classic
Scottish layout, all set amidst the stunning inland beauty of British Columbia.
This uphill par 5 features a generous landing area, presenting opportunities for birdies.
However, players must be cautious of the pitfalls that can ensnare wayward shots. The most
strategic approach to playing this hole is to leave a short wedge shot to the hole. Many players
use a putter to escape the trap if they find their ball in the large greenside bunker just left of
the hole.
