193 ANGUS GLEN GOLF CLUB GOLF CLUB PAR 4 ● 455 YARDS MARKHAM,ON Arthur Stollery, a mining entrepreneur, purchased this land in 1957 to raise Black Aberdeen Angus cattle and champion thoroughbreds. A passionate golfer, he dreamed of transforming his farm into a world- class course. With the help of renowned Canadian architect Doug Carrick, he completed that vision. Though Stollery passed away before the official opening in 1995, his legacy lived on—Angus Glen was named Golf Digest's Best New Course in Canada that same year. The South Course has hosted the Canadian Women's Open (2001), Telus Skins Game (2001), Canadian Open (2002), Pan Am Games (2015), and the World Junior Girls Championship (2014, 2019, 2022). Even though they played the 2007 Canadian Open on the North Course, it was decided that the last two holes from the South Course should be incorporated. This unusual twist speaks volumes about the strength of these holes. The 18th is one of golf's most intimidating finishing holes. It has caused great havoc in previous events and has humbled more than its fair share of public golfers. This long par-4 starts from an elevated tee block through a chute. Accuracy is paramount since trees and a huge bunker are on the right, and Bruce Creek protects the entire left side. From there you are faced with a mid-iron shot on this sharp dogleg left. To make things interesting, there is a bunker on the left, and a vast greenside pond looms on the right to catch any wayward approach shots. This hole is made even more challenging when the pin placement is in the back half of this huge two-tiered green, especially back right, which is as hard a 'Sunday' pin as you can get on any golf course. This hole is visually appealing and a fantastic way to finish your round at this world- class golf resort.
