Boutique Wineries and Their Signature Wines
D
avid Long started making wine when he was in the ninth gradeāif
winemaking means fermenting apple juice with a nylon sock on
the neck of a bottle to keep the flies out. After discovering David's
operations in a surprise locker check, the high school principal called him into
his office and gave him a good talking to. Little did he know, 20 years later at a
high school reunion, David would be standing in front of the same principal with
a huge grin and a bottle of David Arthur wine in his hand. Located 1,200 feet
above the eastern side of the valley floor in Rutherford, David Arthur Vineyards is
the Long family's legacy, started by David's father Don, who became smitten with
Napa Valley much in the same way his son would years later.
