"The best kitchens aren't
measured by square footage—
they're measured by how
naturally they bring people
together."
—Yvonne Harty
Some kitchens are designed to look beautiful. This one was designed to be lived in.
The homeowners have lived all over the world, and cooking has always been the way their
family comes together. The original kitchen couldn't keep up with that lifestyle, so every design
decision started with function.
We organized the space into dedicated cooking, baking, prep, and entertaining zones, allowing
multiple people to cook simultaneously without getting in each other's way. Once the layout
worked, we layered in the architectural character the home deserved—arched forms, rounded
details, warm alder cabinetry, and a soft green inspired by the family's art collection. The
result is a kitchen that feels personal rather than trendy: one that honors the home's Santa Fe
architecture while creating a space where family and friends naturally gather.
