The Inspired Home The Inspired Home 8 THIS PAGE: We designed this primary bedroom as a peaceful retreat and quiet extension of the surrounding landscape. Existing large windows already established a strong connection to the outdoors, inspiring a design that embraced natural light, uninterrupted views, and subtle references to nature. One of the greatest design challenges was creating enough wall space for the king-size bed. The original layout had both the bathroom and closet doors on the bed wall, limiting furniture placement. Because the closet was accessible through the bathroom, the secondary bedroom entrance was eliminated. The room's furnishings were intentionally restrained, allowing carefully selected details to carry the design. A sculptural hammered pewter canopy bed with organic branch-inspired detailing became a defining feature. Embroidered botanical bedding and soft stationary sheers introduce warmth and femininity while preserving the clean architectural lines. FACING PAGE: Like the bedroom, the objective for the bathroom was to create a brighter, more restorative retreat that felt connected to the outdoors. Every decision centered on maximizing natural light, opening the room visually, and allowing the surrounding gardens to become part of the experience. The original bathroom was long, narrow, and visually heavy, so we removed the enclosed shower and centered the room around a freestanding tub. We chose a dramatic, bookmatched quartzite accent wall as a statement-making accent, pairing it with the quieter backdrop of crisp white Thassos marble flooring. To soften the contemporary lines, a delicate floral-inspired chandelier and airy linen drapery subtly reference the homeowner's love of flowers and gardening..
