MISSION STATEMENT: The Summit School educates
students with dyslexia and other learning differences to
their full potential.
The Summit School is a not-for-profit school for bright students in grades
1 through 8 who have language-based learning differences. Summit was
founded in 1989 in response to a need in the greater Annapolis/Baltimore
metropolitan community. Summit remains the only school in Anne Arundel
County to serve this population of students exclusively.
Families come from nine Maryland counties and the District of Columbia
to attend Summit's unique program. Students have experienced difficulty
learning in traditional public, private, and parochial schools, as well as
home school settings.
The Summit School has earned many awards, including being named
a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1999, Nonprofit of the
Year in 2008 by the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of
Commerce, and four Summit teachers have earned the title Private School
Teacher of the Year in Anne Arundel County since 1996.
