10 p e r s p e c t i v e s o n d e s i g n "The collaborative effort is a great privilege." —Karen Cole FACING PAGE TOP LEFT & BOTTOM RIGHT: This kitchen is as functional as it is beautiful. Masculine lines meet a touch of the feminine, while creating a completely livable space. The tiny pops of color in this room go a long way in a quietly monochromatic space. Photographs by Michael Graydon Pictures for House and Home FACING PAGE TOP RIGHT & BOTTOM LEFT: The long and narrow living room proved a challenge as it also needed to serve as a gallery for the artist owner. The blue paneled walls were created specifically for the space, grounding the casual display of the owner's collection. Photographs by Alex Lukey ABOVE: When you encounter a room for the first time, I want to lead your eye through the space to follow a trail of discovery: first the room as a whole, then the small items and their groupings. The fireplace stands out in stark contrast to the concrete walls, warming the room and creating a very visual focal point. Floor-to-ceiling steel doors bring the outdoors in, while modern furnishings invite you to sit and stay a while. Photograph by Virginia McDonald
