Whether the mood is uplifted by fireworks, romanticized by pin spots, or established with an over-the-top crystal-enhanced cake, the elements need to be well planned and reflect the event's overall purpose. bottom right: I love coming up with innovative ways to do simple things like a seating card presentation. Placing seating cards in sliced lemons and oranges was fun, aromatic, and also creatively incorporated the event colors. Facing page top: Color can have an enormous effect. For a seated dinner for 14 people, I presented a fabulous table setting in lavender and purple to accommodate the birthday girl's favorite color. At a Valentine's Day bat mitzvah, chocolate brown and varying pink tones took cues from the lively, youthful honoree. "A calm atmosphere is more than just icing on the cake.
