To serve all of this fabulous food in the traditional
style, you'll want to use classic silver for its elegance.
If you're offering a buffet service, consider a mixture
of family china—old and new, any style—for an
interesting look that's still in touch with the theme.
White-ware can certainly be used instead of silver
or china and it's another lovely presentation option.
Whatever the plates, silverware, and linen napkins are
a must.
Decorate with tons of hydrangea and garden roses
to give your party more of a formal, elegant look. We
like to add a touch of whimsy with Chilton County
peaches on silver candelabras. Citrus bases work great
on the platters. The bases are easy to make using
eight-inch Styrofoam rounds, green is preferred. Stack
four rounds on top of each other and pin together
with U-shaped florist pins. Then take four-inch floral
picks or wooden skewers and insert in one end of
the fruit. Use a tack hammer to nail the fruit securely
on the base. Continue securing the fruit completely
around the base. Then add lemon leaf or salal to fill in
the gaps so the Styrofoam doesn't show.
