185 When a pair of long-time sweethearts decided to tie the knot, the very quiet and shy groom was happy to let his bride take the reins, and she knew exactly what she wanted. Enamored with Walt Disney's "The Little Mermaid," the bride wanted a wedding that included a striking palette of fuchsia and purple, while still including traditional elements worthy of the occasion. Once the unbelievably nervous groom conquered his stage fright to meet his beautiful bride at the altar, the ceremony couldn't have been any better. The couple exchanged vows at Elmslie Memorial Church, a building that was built, in part, by the groom's grandfather. The purple arbor decorated with flowers in colors from the bride's favorite movie was constructed specifically for the space to highlight the church's stunning stained glass windows, which provided the bride and groom with a beautiful backdrop. After the ceremony, guests moved to the reception where mermaids swam in the pool during cocktail hour, adding a touch of whimsy to the celebrations. Ombré centerpieces, washes of light in the wedding's hues, and plentiful candlelight imbued the reception with elegance and refinement. Surprises like personalized wine glasses for the bride and her bridesmaids, fireworks, and a candy station at the after-party made for a playful atmosphere. Wishing lanterns released from the beach brought a romantic end to the magical night. playful fairytale romance t a n y a & j u s t i n
