4 s t r u c t u r e + d e s i g n RIGHT: Floor-to-ceiling glass makes up the back façade of the home. When visitors enter via the front door, they can look through the entire structure, past the grand piano, and out the back windows to the incredible view of the slopes. PREVIOUS PAGE: Unusual and complex materials combined to make the home truly one of a kind. Part French Medieval, part Palm Springs modern, and part mountain rustic, the home features walnut doors and steel accents throughout. The home was designed in a very linear fashion in order to capitalize on the incredible Breckenridge area views. A combination of Douglas fir timbers and steel was used to create the frame, which supports a great deal of the home's structural load. Lacquered and waxed finishes preserve the natural state of the steel, giving it a more authentic look than a typical steel powder finish. Photographs by Marie Dominique Verdier "A linear home doesn't have to be boring. When blended seamlessly into the environment, it becomes a work of art." –Suzanne Allen Sabo
