5 i n t e r i o r d e s i g n ABOVE LEFT: At the end of a long hallway lined with paintings, an understated sitting area is the epitome of cool, calm, and collected elegance. The curvaceous identity of the space reflects the arch of the window and ceilings, with John Boone furnishings circling the delicate edge of the Cedric Hartman centerpiece table. ABOVE RIGHT: The same curved motif is repeated with the home's remarkable staircase and custom railing that undulates through three floors. The quiet simplicity of the single bench speaks volumes when punctuated by the flush of a Jules Olitsky abstract painting as the vibrant exclamation point to round out the minimal space. "Great rooms are built and furnished around the people who live in them." - Stan Topol FACING PAGE: A master bathroom becomes experiential art when the shower and tub unite as one unit, creating a beautifully streamlined effect that's also quite safe and accessible. The gleaming, silver bench adds a sculptural component to the clean, minimal lines. PREVIOUS PAGES: The beauty and ease of indoor-outdoor living was paramount for this waterfront home in Florida. The expansive veranda is an exterior continuation of the family room, which opens directly onto it. The arrangement of both the sitting and dining areas was designed for conversation and to reflect casual island charm with David Sutherland furnishings including comfortable teak wood chairs, communal tables, and a wood-paneled ceiling accented with the richness of dark, weighty beams. The mirror above the grand, molded fireplace serves a dual purpose, also disguising a television. Photographs courtesy of Stan Topol & Associates
