A R C H I T E CT U R E 245 ABOVE: The sound wraps around two sides of the outdoor patio, which is perfect for entertaining. An outdoor fireplace dressed in natural stone is flanked by a gas grill. The enviable patio also includes an outdoor sink and ample prep space. FACING PAGE TOP: Reclaimed wood plank flooring and tongue-and-groove tight knot cedar ceilings provide a beautiful canvas for the home's interior design. The firm worked closely with the homeowner, an artist, to select the perfect color palette to complement the Pacific Northwest landscape. A thick drywall compound gives the walls an Old World texture, and distressed alder doors and trim finish off the nature-inspired look. FACING PAGE BOTTOM LEFT: The two-story living room boasts a hipped truss vaulted ceiling and exposed beams that draw the eye upwards and toward the canal just beyond the windows. FACING PAGE BOTTOM RIGHT: The home is just feet from Highway 106 and presents a solid face at the front. Smaller windows and acoustic glass on the front of the house help muffle road noise. Photographs by Richard McNamee Photography, Inc. "We believe in environmental responsibility. We offer sustainable design for every project, encouraging our clients to determine the level of committment that is appropriate for them." –Sheila Swalling
