A R C H I T E CT U R E 309 LEFT: A limestone-clad spine wall serves as a major organizing element in the home. It begins at the entry and terminates out back. The rectilinear fireplace features a heavy wood hearth that also continues outside, futher merging the interiors with the exteriors. BELOW: Neutral tans and bronze elements mingle throughout the home, while the slatted wood feature makes another appearance in the master bath. The element provides ample privacy to the bathtub—with an overhead faucet—while allowing for natural light. Porcelain tile above the vanity adds another interesting texture to the monochromatic space. FACING PAGE BOTTOM: The dynamic space features a kitchen and dining area perched a few steps above the living room. A heavily distressed wood floor and tight knot cedar ceiling give the rooms rougher textures than one would normally see in a clean, modern house, but mixed with the neutral palette, the effect is stunning. Contractor: High Timber Construction. Photographs by Alan Brandt Photography
