ABOVE: A modern take on a simple, traditional farmhouse,
the Shadowwood House sits on Oregon farmland that has
been in the owners' family for generations. Fulfilling the
husband and wife's desire for a comfortable space for family
gatherings with their children and grandchildren, the house
was designed to truly be a home—for now and for future
generations to come.
RIGHT: Previously, a tiny house sat on the property. But, after
a number of renovations, it was left feeling cramped and non-
cohesive—and certainly not like a home for the ages.
FACING PAGE TOP: Open spaces, large windows, and tall
ceilings create a feeling of openness and comfort, but still
maintain a sense of classic warmth and tradition.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: While the homeowners have a more
traditional aesthetic, they wanted to up the design ante with
the integration of a few modern-facing furnishings. What
ensued was a treasure hunt at vintage and antique stores
where they found such gems as a Bruno Matthson chair from
Sweden, a Roche Bobois sofa, and steel and glass tables—
all of which lend a contemporary flair to the farmhouse style.
