A R C H I T E CT U R E 197 TOP LEFT: The tub in the master bathroom bumps out from the rest of the house and makes you feel as if you're floating out among nature. Custom built grates by First Lamp can be added to the tub to turn it into a shower. Not only does the feature make the bathroom feel spa-like, but it also provides multiple options for use. BOTTOM LEFT: Large steel framed doors swing open for easy access to the outdoor deck areas. FACING PAGE TOP: On the main floor, the wall of windowed doors fold together to open the living and dining area to the outdoors. A bridge-like element extends from the house to the outdoor fireplace. It mirrors the bridge that carries you to the house upon arrival and serves as a covered patio. The steel sliding window panels, concrete blocks used in the fireplace, and cedar siding are low maintenance and weather well with age. FACING PAGE BOTTOM: The streamlined kitchen and dining area provide ample seating for entertaining, but it is the texture of the clear-coated cedar ceilings that draw the eye the moment you step into the space. Interiors by Mandy Callaway. Photographs by Tim Bies
