RIGHT: A queen-sized bed hangs from the trellis in the rose
garden. Inspired by the owner's first grandchild, the garden
is a beautiful place to relax. The home sits on a beach on
an island off the Sunshine Coast, and all the materials for
construction had to be delivered by barge. Despite its
nostalgic feel, the home is undeniably modern. Completely
off the grid and self-sufficient, the solar powered home also
includes features that collect and store water.
BELOW: Located on a private cove, the Boathouse represents
every effort to preserve the environment. An old arbutus tree
grows through the huge lower deck where the columns hold
the above deck up in an homage to tree branches. The home
sits on the rocky coast, nestled in the forest, with spectacular
views of the ocean, where dolphins can be seen swimming
in the sunset.
