BOTTOM: Perched on a rock bluff in west Vancouver, this
6,500-square-foot modern marvel celebrates a grand
sense of drama as it hovers above its rocky landscape. The
seemingly infinite walls of glass, punctuated by two layers
of decks, are contemporary in design yet they still brilliantly
commune with nature.
FACING PAGE TOP LEFT: A huge overhang was designed to
provide a year-round shield for the linear outdoor plaza that's
home to a large kitchen and lounge area not to mention a hot
tub and adjacent deck.
FACING PAGE TOP RIGHT: Interior designer Jennifer Heffel
echoed the clean, modern lines of the architecture in the main
living room with comfortable yet contemporary furnishings.
The floor-to-ceiling fireplace, clad in local basalt, serves as a
fundamental focal point.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM LEFT: A mix of local, natural materials
provides visual intrigue at the stairway landing area with oak
floors, a hemlock paneled ceiling, and fir, cedar, and basalt
accents all working in harmony.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM RIGHT: A shallow water feature flows
down into the hot tub on the spacious outdoor deck. Despite
all the glass that outfits the home, there is minimal heat loss
due to triple-glazing.

"Extraordinary design
feels as though it was
simply meant to be; it
respectfully flows into the
landscape while carving
out its own striking form."
