I N T E R I O R D E S I G N 121 BELOW: This home with the embodiment of a French-Italian contemporary love affair is Sublime's new signature style. The basement bar and lounge area is perfect for entertaining. A mix of different marbles and materials including exposed brick and stained wood coffered ceilings make the space feel intimate as if one has just stepped into a private speakeasy. The white-and- black marble bar front was to mimic the floor pattern in the foyer. FACING PAGE TOP LEFT: The grand fireplace in the intimate living room boasts white-and-black features that boldly and unapologetically ground the small space. The effect is modern and utterly elegant. FACING PAGE TOP RIGHT: Finding appropriate large-scale furniture to suit the enormous dining room was a challenge. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels showcase the custom stair rail just beyond. The table subtly reflects the ornate wall pattern and light from the chandeliers above. FACING PAGE BOTTOM LEFT: The home theater is just another example of the dwelling's overall harmonious design. Gray tones from other rooms and the exterior mingle in the comfortable space where guests are invited to relax before the large screen. FACING PAGE BOTTOM RIGHT: High ceilings in the master bedroom posed a challenge to making the design feel inviting and intimate. An oversized upholstered headboard and warm lighting do the trick, though, and soften the space that would otherwise seem intimidating with 17-foot ceilings.
