"Get to the site and spend
a lot of time there as you
develop ideas. Each site
has its own voice, and if you
listen, you'll hear what it has
to say."
–Walter Powell,
Architect AIBC
LEFT & FACING PAGE TOP: Named Project Orion, the owner's
of this private residence were inspired by the constellation
of the same name and the design endeavors to incorporate
that idea. The three points of the roofline when looking up
the house represent the three points of Orion's belt, and the
waterfall represents the Milky Way. It flows past the round
window of the home's meditation room. Inside, a spiral
staircase references the spiral galaxy in which we live.
Corrugated red metal and 24-by-24 inch white ceramic tile
make up the façade of the home.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: The open floorplan flows comfortably
to the outdoors. The dining room, adjacent to the modern
kitchen, opens to a deep covered patio, perfect for outdoor
dining. The home also includes two private offices for the
owners, a master suite, a three-car garage, and a guest suite.
