Light stained oak panels flank the bed, while stretched fabric wallcovering behind the headboard softens the space. Above, the vaulted soffit features recessed lighting. A makeup vanity sits in a cozy space, behind and to the right, to offer a pleasant transition between the walk-in closet and the master bath. Photograph by Yellow Camera Photography MIDDLE RIGHT: The staircase is the perfect balance between traditional and contemporary. The end posts mimic old French wrought iron railings with a delicate turned end post detail, while the rest of the spindles are simple and modern. A black-and-white color palette gives the space a contemporary feeling, while the skylight placed above the tinted beveled mirror wall brings even more light to the center of the house. A cluster of custom length crystal pendants cascades down three stories in the center of the staircase. The furniture is traditional, but in a palette that keeps the room from feeling heavy. It represents the youthful elegance of the owners perfectly. High-polish pendant lights hang from the ceiling where reclaimed barn beams add a rustic element above. Below, a dramatically veined Statuario marble island countertop provides room for guests to gather during parties. A custom-designed fridge and freezer unit, which includes a large wine cooler, looks like a piece of Old World furniture. Finished in a rustic gray, it draws the eye to the formal dining room just beyond, where a matching barn door is juxtaposed with the more formal chairs and intricate ceiling details. Photograph by Yellow Camera Photography FACING PAGE BOTTOM: Full-slab Statuario marble on the shower walls of the master bathroom is paired with gray herringbone marble tiles behind the mirrors. The pair offers a soft contrast in the room while still maintaining a spa-like feel that's elegant to its core. Beams in the ceiling bring to mind the beams in the kitchen, but in the en suite bath, they feel cleaner and more modern.
