C U STO M B U I L D E R 33 Black Thumb Contracting When Hayden Killam was handed his first Skilsaw at age 12, he immediately began building, often without drawing plans, simply relying on intuition to inform his designs. Today as the owner of Black Thumb Contracting, he relies on many more tools—and a quality team of artisans—to build and renovate one-of-a-kind houses. His love of residential projects is evident the moment you step into one of his homes. Each is creatively designed and influenced by the homeowner's lifestyle, and every detail is absolutely perfect. Since 2009, Black Thumb Contracting has strategically built and renovated homes in the Pacific Northwest while providing homeowners with honest communication, integrity, and the utmost quality. A self-described perfectionist, Hayden takes the time to give each client personalized attention, working alongside homeowners to build single-family houses from the foundation up, even assisting with finish work. With extensive experience before founding his company, Hayden notes that Black Thumb Contracting—named in honor of a joke about blown out thumbs while working onsite— represents an exciting new chapter in his life. He loves seeing the limitless possibilities just waiting to be explored every time he begins a new project. Homeowners appreciate the diligence with which he and his team approach their work—it's all part of delivering exceptional service, for which Black Thumb has become known.
