ABOVE: Embedded in a sanctuary of trees, the South Surrey
Residence occupies a corner lot that maintains a sense
of peacefulness that's further supported by the Asian-
influenced design of the West Coast contemporary property.
The U-shaped structure with its sloped roofs and large
overhangs allows for quiet symmetry, with strong, horizontal
lines provoking grounded calmness. Tall, vertical wood
columns, glimpsed in the living room, enhance the ordered
pattern and rhythm of the home.
FACING PAGE TOP: The expansive patio off the main floor
maintains continuity with the home's interior through the
balance of materials including warm cedar with cool concrete.
The covered area of the deck features an outdoor kitchen
with a grill and pizza oven, with additional warmth generated
from heaters in the exterior ceiling and a fire bowl. The patio
steps down to the active pool area below.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: The home maintains a sense of
visual synergy and connectedness through the transparency
afforded in its large expanses of aluminum curtain-
wall windows.

I think about the
experience. I want
people to feel and
discover all the
subtleties and sublimity
of the home."
