ABOVE LEFT: Originally built by renowned architects Bo Helliwell
and Kim Smith, the 20-year-old house needed a complete
makeover. The curved walls and wood structural elements of
the original design were honored in the architectural and interior
refresh, with attention given to enhancing all door and trim
detailing. The tongue-in-groove ceiling, which runs continuously
through the house, presented a challenge for the team. When
a room was altered in any way, part of the ceiling had to be
removed and rebuilt, board-by-board.
ABOVE RIGHT: Created by Leon Lebeniste specifically for the
space, the handcrafted white oak bench is a masterpiece that
serves both as sculpture and functional furniture.
LEFT: Fun and fabulous "Button Lights," by local ANDlight, add
a sculptural element to the dining room.

FACING PAGE TOP: Starting with the home's original architectural
features, the team added glass-rimmed decks and new
landscaping to improve the site. Large boulders and native
plants now enhance the home's façade. New standing-seam
roofing adds to the home's energy efficiency while creating a
striking design element that complements architecture best
described as a modern interpretation of a traditional chalet.
FACING PAGE BOTTOM: A substantial fireplace becomes the
focal point for the living room, which unabashedly includes a
television and thoughtfully stored media equipment. As in every
Luxford-designed home, practical needs and class are not
mutually exclusive.
