The Central Coast has expanded and matured into a well-known,
world-class wine region. The 1990s saw a big influx of wineries and
growth is steady, as more and more adventuresome winemakers
make their way to the hallowed "ocean bed" ground of the Central
Coast. With the region's proximity to the Pacific Ocean, microclimates
play a big role in cool temperatures, dense fog and breezes allowing
for longer growing seasons. The Central Coast is simply a winemaker's
paradise.
