Central Coast lived in the shadow of its Napa and Sonoma neighbors, JUSTIN made a
name for itself nearly 20 years ago and has not let up since. The result of its efforts is a solid
definition of what a Central Coast winery should be, setting the standard for all those who
follow. And wine drinkers across the nation are catching on.
The names behind the bottles are Justin and Deborah Baldwin, who first planted vines in
1982 to begin their vision. Giving up investment and banking careers in Los Angeles, the
couple took a risk when they purchased the 160-acre parcel of land just 15 miles west of
Paso Robles. At the time, only eight wineries had been established in the area. Justin and
Deborah slowly realized the possibilities of the geography, seeing a way to share a little
piece of their world. Their resources also span the east and west side of the Paso Robles
appellation to supplement on-site fruit. With topography that mimics the South of France and
portions of Bordeaux, Paso Robles has a distinct flavor, as seen through JUSTIN's Bordeaux-
style blends and single varietal bottlings.
The eclectic winery sits hidden just 13 miles off the Pacific Coast. Surrounding terrain offers
a mix of textures and sights, with an unmistakable sense of place. The east side is flat and
