Chronic Cellars
PASO ROBLES
Chronic Cellars opened its doors in June 2008, but the seed of an idea was planted five
years earlier when the two founder-brothers were relaxing with friends after a grape harvest.
They were covered in juice, stained and tired when they had an epiphany. How about making
wines to appeal to a young crowd so new wine drinkers would feel completely comfortable at
tastings, even if they didn't know a thing about wine or the history of winemaking?
Josh and Jake Beckett were immersed in the wine country lifestyle as kids and grew up
around the whole vintner culture through their family's business. It was only natural that they
became passionate about the industry. Today making and selling great wine to call their own
is a way of life, but their brand has an edgy personality. Josh and Jake are into motocross
and extreme sports so there's a feeling of excitement at Chronic Cellars that no other winery
establishment can live up to. The owners are far from stuffy. They hate stuffy. Chronic Cellars
wines reflects this maverick mindset. A sketched skull and cross bones marks each label,
almost inviting visitors to "pick your poison," as the old expression goes. The handcrafted
wines are deliciously intoxicating. Sofa King Bueno, La Muñeca, Petite Sirah and El Perfecto
are just some of the wonderful reds that Josh dreams up in his winemaking laboratory.
Experimental and experiential sums up the tasting room atmosphere at Chronic Cellars, a
place where guests can imbibe in the lively tasting room, sample new vintages and swap
stories with friends and locals.
