The house was built by Thomas R. Skinner and his wife
Susan circa 1914. T.R. Skinner was a local butcher. After
raising their two daughters in Gonzales, the Skinners
moved to their country home in Westhoff. The land was
originally part of the Smead homestead but was sold
after the death of the Smead daughter who had inherited
the property. This home has been a single family home,
a duplex, a rental and on the city's demolition list.
Thankfully, it was saved and historically renovated by its
current owners, Greg and Dee Dee Sengelmann.
This home is built in the Queen Anne style and features
diamond fish scale siding and a wraparound porch
typical of the era and style of the home. The interior is
paneled with bead board throughout. The floors and
millwork are all longleaf pine and an original leaded
glass window has survived the many changes the house
has endured over the years.

LOWER LEFT– The original bead board walls have been revealed and painted a
rich apple green which is a striking contrast to the antique mahogany furniture
and long leaf pine floors.
LOWER CENTER – The front parlor features original bead board walls that have
been restored by the current owners. The large glass front door with side lights
and transom fill the room with natural light. The owner has furnished the room
with a collection of period antiques and accessories which complement the
historic features of the room.
LOWER RIGHT – The wrap around porch is typical of the Queen Anne style and
provides a cool respite to sip a cool beverage on a warm day or enjoy the morning
air with a steaming cup of coffee.
