Jacob Stahl was born in Gonzales, Texas, July 15, 1885.
At the age of fourteen, he went into the produce business
with his brother, David. They later became partners in
the Stahl Brothers' Store dealing in dry or green hides,
furs, poultry, eggs and other groceries. The Stahl family
was also heavily involved in raising, buying and selling
cotton. Jacob had one of the largest turkey and poultry
operations in the southwest.
In 1905 Jacob and his brother purchased the lots where
the house now stands. Jacob bought David's interest in
1907 and built this Queen Anne style home where he
and Selma lived the remaining years of their lives. The
home boasts magnificent crown molding and intricate
hardwood accents.
It has been restored and remodeled to the beautiful
structure it is today by owners Larry and Johnnie
Edwards.
