125 J. J. FOUTS HOUSE 834 Mitchell Street This beautiful Greek Revival home was built in 1902 by Dr. Jesse Jonathan Fouts. It is constructed of cypress and Florida curly pine from his father's Florida sawmill. Fouts graduated from Tulane Medical University in 1886 and practiced in New York, Waelder and Galveston before coming to Gonzales in 1890. Situated on the highest elevation in town it grants the viewer a beautiful panoramic scene including the Guadalupe River bottom, with its native pecan and live oak trees. The house earned a State Historical Survey marker. Currently the home is owned by Ron and Debbie Gregory. Photograph by Gwen Skinner Gonzales Camera Club
