Grandeur of Gonzales is dedicated to the memory of Richard Glenn Tiller. Although a newcomer by local
standards, his fourteen years in Gonzales has an everlasting impact. Richard's love of history and architecture
is reflected by his efforts in restoring several of Gonzales' significant architectural treasures. In addition to
Belle Oaks (C.E. Dilworth), he and I purchased and restored the J.C. Bright house at 1006 St Matthew, and
then later, the J.H. Boothe house at 706 St George.
On his many travels, he collected coffee table books as souvenirs of his trips to enable him to relive the
memories of the beautiful places he visited and new friendships he developed. e idea of this book on
Gonzales was important to him, as he felt the need to document and preserve the city's rich architectural
heritage, and share it with others in a high-quality publication Gonzales could be proud of for generations.
Along with others, he began to work toward making this idea a reality through his efforts in the Gonzales
Historic Homes Association.
Richard's warm, radiant smile and magnetic personality resulted in many incredible friends over his lifetime.
His passing was unexpected and untimely. However the countless friendships Richard developed enabled
him to be a significant benefactor in the publication of this book. Richard's dream has become a reality with
the publication of the
Grandeur of Gonzales.
In loving memory, Richard Glenn Tiller, gone from this
earth but forever in our hearts.
