FACING PAGE – Looking from the entry hall into the parlor, Belter side
chairs flank the original oak fireplace. The mantel is one of four that
were special ordered from Sears and Roebuck when the house was built.
Ordering decorative architectural features from Sears was extremely popular
in 1892 when the house was built. The marble-top center table holds the family
silver service.

ABOVE – Looking east from the back garden sits the music room recently moved
to the Rather House property from Waelder, where Crozier's great-grandfather
had it built for his daughter's music studio in 1910.
LEFT – Gazing out the front doors of the entry hall onto one of the East/West
avenues of the Texas History Museum District lies the Runaway Scrape path
that General Sam Houston and the citizens of Gonzales took fleeing Santa
Anna's advancing army.
