81 W.H. CLARK HOUSE 1906 St. Louis Street The home at 1906 Saint Louis Street was built by William Howell Clark and his wife, Anna Bird Clark. W.H. was born May 2, 1875, and died September 31, 1949, in Tarrant, Texas. Anna Bird Clark was born about 1882. W.H. bought the property in 1913 and hired local builder Fred Meisenhelder to design and construct their home in 1914. The 1920 Federal Census shows the couple living in the house with their three children: Luallie, who was fourteen; Howell, who was twelve; and Joe Dunn, who was seven. The home is an Arts and Craft design, with exterior cypress siding and a wrap-around side porch–the front door and windows are original. The living room fireplace has a longleaf pine mantel and Rookwood tile surround. The dining room has built-in china cabinets, a built-in window seat, and original ceiling light. The butler's pantry connecting the kitchen and dining room has built-in cabinets and cupboards with glass doors. There is also a small parlor or music room. Interior features include: longleaf pine floors, door trim, and baseboards; three ceiling lights, two fireplaces, French doors with transom windows, pocket doors with glass panes, wainscoting, crown molding, longleaf pine door trim, longleaf pine baseboards. Roger and Dorothy Eberle are the current owners. BOTTOM LEFT - Living room. Antique wing-backed chairs flank the large Rookwood fireplace. BOTTOM CENTER - Dining Room. This large spacious room includes a dining table easily accommodating 10-12 guests and original built in china cabinets along the west wall. BOTTOM RIGHT - A large glass front door flanked by large side lights provides brilliant light to the foyer which is centered by an antique round oak table. Photographs by Clinton Hille
