139 Isaac Newton Smead and his wife, Sara, came to Gonzales shortly after the Civil War and Isaac made a living as a cabinetmaker. Isaac and Sara built their house in 1876. It was originally Mansard style architecture but was remodeled as a two story Greek Revival style home by G.W. Wade who lived there from 1909 to 1946. During the remodeling, a model of the original house was found in the attic. Current owners are Steve and Julie Winton. Photograph by Clint Hille . I.N. SMEAD HOUSE 213 St. Andrew Street
