COLUMBIA VALLEY CHARDONNAY
gourmet pairings
Pairs beautifully with seared
Arctic char with Mediterranean
potatoes.
tasting notes
Barnard Griffin has produced this elegant and balanced
Chardonnay since 1983. Winemaker Rob Griffin favors grapes
from six to eight vineyards in this Columbia Valley blend. The
45 percent barrel fermentation adds creaminess to the mid-
palate and finish while the 55 percent cool stainless steel
fermentation ensures varietal fruitiness and a refreshing acidity.
Oak character complements the aromas and flavors—but not at
the expense of the true fruit flavors.
winemaker's insight
The core of this multi-vineyard blend is our Estate Vineyard
located south of Kennewick in Finley, Washington. Wine grapes
were first planted on this site in the late 1960s; it's a location
of proven quality and is moderately warm, allowing correct
maturity in the grapes. When we started producing this wine,
barrel fermentation was a new idea in Washington. Now, this
Chardonnay has been a regional favorite for more than 35 years.
