118 Signature Wines and Wineries of Washington Rob's daughter with wife Tamara, Keely Newsom, assists Rob in the winery. Having grown up around the cellars and wine presses, Keely learned how important generational winemaking is from Gary Figgins and today ensures that Boudreaux wines will endure for generations to come. Located four miles off the power grid, Boudreaux Cellars is the only Washington winery that's 100 percent self-powered. Here, nature plays an integral role in the winemaking process. The 200-barrel cellar is housed completely underground and allows for consistent cool temperatures and an extended barreling period of two to three years—giving the wine extra time to rest before bottling. Gravity transports wines from the press to the barrel, and the entire process combines modern technology with Old-World tried-and-true techniques. When guests arrive at the winery on Icicle Road, they're greeted by the local granite stone façade of the winery. Majestic trees and spectacular views make visiting the winery's tasting room a destination worth experiencing. Guests can enjoy a little piece of the French Quarter at the Leavenworth tasting room, where gaslights, a zinc-topped bar, and big bottles of Boudreaux wines provide ambiance and a chance to sample Boudreaux Cellars' award-winning wines.
