89 Viscon Cellars WEST SEATTLE At Viscon Cellars, the premise is simple: Owner-winemaker Ben Viscon and his wife, Susan, believe that great wine should be a part of everyday life. It's a passion the couple discovered in the late '90s when they moved to Seattle and fell in love with Washington wines and the diversity of the Pacific Northwest's viniculture. Once Ben tried his hand at making wine—even attending the University of California, Davis–College of Viticulture and Enology to perfect his knowledge— there was no looking back. His craft has since grown from a small basement hobby to a flourishing boutique winery in urban West Seattle. What sets Viscon Cellars apart is the locally produced feel of the brand and their wines, with small-lot production that sources fruit from premier Washington grape growers to yield award-winning—yet approachable—wines that are just as delicious when paired with an everyday meal as with a special occasion. The Viscon Cellars portfolio predominantly focuses on Bordeaux varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Rhône varietals include Syrah and Viognier, and there's also a Chardonnay in the mix. The Viscons love the community that wine creates, and their warm, mid- century modern winery is a testament to that neighborhood spirit. They feature local artists on rotation every quarter at the winery and also actively participate in the West Seattle Art Walk.
