tasting notes
The brute strength of Bacchus is tamed by the silky elegance of
Dionysus, which offers dried rosemary and thyme from the old
Cabernet vines. Rich, dark chocolate from Weinbau's Merlot adds
mid-palate texture, plus a hint of dried cherries, and a whiff of
cedar box. This bouquet is worth lingering over, and is a worthy
lead-in to the layers in each sip.
winemaker's insight
The wine is a result of a long-term relationship between Kent
Waliser and winemaker, John Abbott of Devona. John has
worked with these grapes since 1997 and rightly observes
the history of this vineyard. Avoiding the ravages of time and
weather has created a powerful experience just being in the
vineyard. Kent long dreamt of a Sagemoor Cabernet made from
old vine Bacchus fruit.
