ESTATE CARMÉNÈRE
gourmet pairings
Our Estate Carménère pairs
well with thick-cut lamb
chops, seasoned with crushed
black pepper and kosher salt,
fire-grilled to medium rare.
tasting notes
A nose of blackberry and black currant among herbal hints
of thyme and eucalyptus with black and white peppercorns
distinguishes the Estate Carménère. The pour brings flavors of
cassis, boysenberry, and pomegranate—a fruity mix that makes
for juicy acidity and medium tannins, backed by a slice of red bell
pepper.
winemaker's insight
Carménère is one of the most ancient European varieties being
brought back from extinction by wineries in the New World,
like ours. There have been suggestions that Carménère may be
Biturica, a vine praised in Ancient Rome and also the name by
which the city of Boudreaux was known during that era. The high-
density planting and extensive crop thinning allow us to achieve
the concentration of flavor in this wine. With some patience and
attention to detail in the winemaking process, the consumer
receives quality they instantly recognize. Time, care, and a sense
of place are required to give this authentic experience. That is
the magic of Tanjuli Winery.
