9 named in honor of the lost Battle of Culloden that provided the impetus for Hugh Mercer to leave Scotland and settle in the New World. Dead Canyon Vineyard features grapes planted along both edges of the canyon located three miles south of the original Mercer farmstead. The north and south face of the canyon offer two distinct aspects of a similar terroir, featured in Mercer Canyons Cabernet Sauvignon and Red Blend, Estates Cabernet Sauvignon, Estates Sharp Sisters Red Blend, and the Reserve Syrah. Eagle & Plow is Mercer's largest vineyard site, located at the northwest corner of the family farm. Cabernet Sauvignon grows abundantly here, and the vineyard's name reflects patriotism and hard work, along with optimism for future generations. Finally, Princeton Vineyard pays homage to Brigadier General Hugh Mercer who fought and died at the Battle of Princeton in the American Revolution. The 525- acre, 27-block vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. TOP AND RIGHT: Rob Mercer inspecting and admiring the vines at the Big Tee Pee Vineyard. Photograph by Andrea Johnson
