Cabernet Sauvignon from this iconic 45-year-old vineyard
consistently delivers power, structure, and rich, concentrated
black fruit. The wine offers black cherry flavors and chocolate
notes with typical Cold Creek density and palate-friendly power.
winemaker's insight
Planted in 1973, the south-facing Cold Creek Vineyard is a warm,
dry site with high heat accumulation, producing small clusters
and small berries for intense varietal flavors and deep color.
After a cutting-edge receiving and destemming system, the fruit
receives daily gentle pumpovers to extract optimal flavor and
color, while minimizing harsh tannins. Frequent airative racking
during barrel aging softens tannins and enhances mouthfeel.
Prolonged malolactic fermentation in barrels provides better
complexity and integration.
