3 Cave B Estate Winery QUINCY When he was a young boy growing up in the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn, New York, Vince Bryan, owner of Cave B Estate Winery, used to gaze out at his cheese box window sill radish plantings and dream of wider spaces. Co-owner Carol Bryan spent her childhood summers on the Indiana dunes learning how to be resilient, tenacious, and courageous. As fate would have it, the pair of kindred spirits met in high school and fell in love. After college, they moved, as a young married couple, from Illinois to California, UCLA, from where Vince, a resident in neurosurgery, was called into the Navy during the Vietnam War, ultimately being stationed at the Bremerton Naval Hospital. Little did they know, the assignment would introduce them to their next great love: Washington State, where they eventually settled and raised their family of four children. The pair planted their first harvest in 1980 and, in 1984, partnered with others to create their first winery, Champs de Brionne. As part of the grand opening, the Bryans built a stage for musical performances. Old irrigation ditches became terraces for people to picnic on, and guests loved the experience so much that the Bryans expanded the Champs de Brionne Summer Music Theater every summer. It eventually became the world-famous Gorge FACING PAGE: Winemaker Alfredo "Freddy" Arredondo and his two Cellarmasters make a dynamic team turning our 100% estate grown grapes into award winning wines.
