3 Opolo Vineyards PASO ROBLES Set in the picturesque rolling hills near Paso Robles, Opolo Vineyards is made up of nearly 300 acres of vines. The expansive swath of land makes it inclusive of a wide range of soil types, climates, and provides great growing potential. A number of varietals flourish here, including Syrah, Malbec, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Pinot Noir. Started by neighbors Rick Quinn and Dave Nichols, the winery began with its first vintage in 1999.Today, Rick and Dave run Opolo Vineyards with the help of General Manager Scott Welcher, Winemakers Chris Rougeot, James Schreiner, Vineyard Manager Greg Perez, and Head Distiller Paul Quinn. The small team is hands-on, and is involved in each part of the business, including vineyard contracts, farming practices, winemaking, marketing, and events. The Opolo crew has worked hard over the years to ensure that guests feel welcome, comfortable, and like they are part of the Opolo family. Starting with the passion in the vineyard, the team carefully monitors each lot of grapes in order to produce the highest quality fruit possible. Great wine begins in the vineyard and everyone works to sustainably farm the grapes. From there, the process continues with the production team and the winemaking steps. Here, extreme attention to detail and finesse is used in crafting consistent, elegant wines. When visiting the Westside Vineyard, guests are able to see the land, learn about the winemaking process, and enjoy great wines, food, and friends. Located in Paso Robles, the Tasting Room has humble beginnings as a metal tractor barn in the middle of the Westside Vineyard property.
