5 BELOW TOP: The home's views are to the north yet large overhangs were used to capture the south sun and brighten up the interior spaces, hence Mr. Applebaum named the project Suncatch. Of that, 24,500 square feet is for living space and 29,500 square feet is for a 37-car showroom under the house. The Southern California estate was finished in 2005. The late Julius Shulman, famed architectural photographer, stated at the open house of Suncatch in 2005, that "This home is the greatest residential architecture of the 21st century."
