ESTATE PETITE SIRAH
gourmet pairings
This extremely lush and full-
bodied wine is a perfect
marriage with red meat and
game, as well as hearty stews
and winter broths. Pair with
cassoulet, coq au vin, short
ribs, and duck entrées. For
dessert, it is complementary
with dark chocolate mousse
and anything not overly sweet, as the wine provides a deep
richness all on its own.
tasting notes
Sit down for this one, as our Petite Sirah is an undeniably massive
wine. Inky dark purple, viscous and lush, the wine will leave
you simply in awe. It's round and full, yet maintains a bright
acidity that keeps it from being heavy. The estate premium fruit
produces this beauty of a wine, as it is highly fragranced with an
essence of dried rose petal and dark berries. Layered between
dark berry flavors, melted chocolate, and creamy mocha cross
your palate, complemented by tannins that are fully developed.
winemaker's insight
A very limited amount of Petite Sirah, a mere 1000 vines, is grown
on the steeply sloped hillside vineyard in the Adelaida District
of Paso Robles. The hot days and much cooler nights are the
prime growing area for this late-ripening, thin-skinned grape.
At harvest, these grapes are so intense they stain hands, bins,
and equipment immediately upon crush. The fruit is dry-framed,
head-trained, and night-hand harvested. The wine is neither
fined nor filtered before bottling.
